VACANCY: African Programs Associate at Students For Liberty

Students For Liberty (SFL) is the largest libertarian student organization in the world with student leaders spanning well over 100 countries on every inhabited continent. Our mission is to educate, develop, and empower the next generation of leaders of liberty. We accomplish this through a strategy of empowerment, identifying the top student leaders and training them to be agents of change in their communities.

Position Summary

Students For Liberty is currently seeking a passionate and professional individual to serve as African Programs Associate. This is a full-time position managing the 100 + SFL Volunteers in Africa and executing the strategic plan for SFL programs in Africa. This role requires volunteer management experience, program management experience, and expert ability to keep a team engaged, motivated, and results focused.

The African Program Associate will be responsible for SFL’s growth in new sub-regions, run activism and educational events, communicating with dozens of activists across Africa and shall also be in charge of co-managing and providing support to ASFL’s social media platforms including all aspects of African operations. The position is based in Africa and may require across the region.

A successful candidate will have a firm commitment to libertarian ideas and to SFL’s mission statement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the African Executive Board and Local Coordinator Programs
  • Train student leaders
  • Identify high-quality students and recruit them to join ASFL leadership
  • Identify and send out weekly success stories from Africa
  • Manage the ASFL newsletter, blog, and social media accounts
  • Oversee and support the Executive Board’s work
  • Support the leadership by assisting in conferences, retreats, academic colloquia, leadership fora, and other campus events
  • Oversee the student grant application process
  • Collect and report data on programs
  • Manage ASFL’s marketing and communication

Qualities of an Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in volunteer or people management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Creative approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work autonomously with entrepreneurial drive
  • Full proficiency in English
  • Bachelor Degree required
  • Knowledge of the effective use of Social Media platforms
  • High proficiency with Google Office Suite and/or Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
