Deepak Lal is an Indian economist who wrote extensively on the economics of development. In the early 80’s he wrote a major critique of mainstream development economics, at that time mainly inspired by marxist and keynesian ideologies. He also wrote about the historical connexion between economic and cultural factors in the development of societies.
