AfricanLiberty.org Editor Speaks to African Health Ministers in Geneva

FranklinOn April 28, 2008 AfricanLiberty.org editor will speak to African Health Ministers  at the World Health Organisation’s Inter Governmental Working Group meeting on Public Health and Intellectual Property Rights. Franklin will urge the Ministers not to direct their entire energies at attacking patents, but rather focus on local inhibitions to accessing health care- high tarriffs on imported medicines, dilapidated hospitals, low doctor-patient ratio, inadequate health insurance, counterfeit medicines, poor sanitation, corruption and povertyThe attack on patents is not a defence of patients or the poor. Prosperity is the key to those services and intellectual property is one of the keys to prosperity.
