Will China Ignore the ICC too?

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

ChinaThe view that China’s expansionist agenda in Africa has long ignored internal problems only got strengthened. While the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir fumes over his arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), there has been staggering findings that the Chinese are helping Al-Bashir’s militarily in Darfur.

Chinese army lorries have been traced in the Sudanese province that were exported from China in 2005. However, the Chinese government pleads anonymity and has refused to comment on these findings, saying it abides by all UN arm embargoes. The ICC however acts independently of the UN. So the BIG question is, will China ignore the ICC too and continue fuelling the war in Dafur?
