Ban Urges Leaders To Build Momentum For Unity Government. –Un News Service

The UN Secretary General called on Madagascan leaders to speed up the process of a transitional government. The UN backed the mediation during the crisis that lead to President Ravalomanana.  The UN will remain engaged in the process until a deal is reached to see that the transitional government is up and running. The country has suffered a number of sanctions because of now president Rjoelena’s attack on the ousted president.  A UN special envoy read a communiqué from the international contact group asking that the sanctions imposed on the country be lifted; it also endorsed the country’s request for international financial aid and to help prepare for the coming elections.
