Poor States Hope to Benefit From Climate Talks. Daily Nation

Negotiations to draft a new climate change deal could be beneficial to Africa if successful. Climate change talks open today at Copenhagen, Denmark. Ms Helen Clark an administrator at the UNDP says she is hoping that world leaders come to an agreement but the nature of the agreement is still in a limbo. Leaders at the talk still have some hurdles to clear such as developed nations bringing financial aid to developing nations to help lessen the effect of climate change. Some African nations might benefit from the talks, Kenya for instance might receive a compensation package because of its effort to rebuild forests, protect watersheds and irrigation.
