Luanda — Angola and the European Union (EU) signed Thursday, in Luanda, a Financing Convention for conserving the biodiversity of the Iona Park, the country's biggest national trans-border natural reserve site.
Situated in Namibe Province, the park has 15,150 square kilometres.
The document was signed by the minister of Planning and Territory Development, Job Graça, representing Angola and the coordinator of European Plan of Development (FED) and from the European Union, by its ambassador to Angola, Javier Puvol.
The Financial Convention, the first which the European Union supports in terms of cooperation in the conservation field of biodiversity in Angola, is amounted at € 10 million, equivalent to USD 10. 7 million (about 1.7 billion Angolan kwanzas).
he event aims at implementing the national project of biodiversity, for the conservation of Iona Park.
