Nigerian Recession: Centre announces Essay Prize for Solutions

Lagos-based international Graduate School, CIAPS (The Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies) has announced a Public Interest Essay Competition aimed at studying the Nigerian Recession and finding solutions to it.

The competition themed “Nigerian Recession: Diagnosis & Prognosis” which has a total of one million naira (N1million) Prize is opened to Students, Graduates, Professionals, Academics and all Stakeholders with interest in and understanding of the Nigerian economy.

In a statement published on the Centre’s website (www.ciaps.org) and confirmed by the Centre’s Head of Events and Projects, Mrs Funke Fajusigbe, the essay Prize is aimed at encouraging fact-based analysis as part of the Centre’s effort in contributing to the building of a knowledge based society.

According to her, the entries welcomed from anyone with interest in and knowledge of the Nigerian Economy and recession, will be judged by members of the CIAPS faculty in collaboration with a selected panelist of economic experts, operators and observers.

“The panel coordinated by CIAPS Centre Director, Prof. Anthony Kila includes Political Economist and founder, Centre for Value and Leadership, Professor Pat Utomi; Former World Bank Vice President, Africa Dr. Oby Ezekwesili; Economist, Public Affairs analyst and Entrepreneur Mr. Henry Boyo as well as former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian University Council and President of Nigerian Institute of Management, Pof. Munzali Jibril

Five top essays will be selected for prizes and publications, with N500, 000 for best entry, N250,000 for second place, N150,000 for third place, while the fourth and fifth runners up are to receive N50,000 each.

“All entries are to be submitted with a cover note containing a brief biography of writer by visiting www.ciaps.org not later than 12am 29th November 2016.”

Successful entries for the one million naira (N1million) CIAPS Public Interest Essay Prize will have to be objective and backed by facts, the statement said.

CIAPS is an international graduate school that offers postgraduate and professional programmes for graduates interested in pursuing careers in the areas of Media and Journalism, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Project Management, Production & Operations Management, Business Development, Graduate Diploma for PAs & Senior Executive, and Event Management
